HOW IS CHRISTIANITY DIFFERENT

Can Christianity offer something more and better than the other religion? There may well be within other religion authentic spiritual values which will lift men and women morally and ethnically and which will imbue followers with concepts and priorities that are akin to those of Christianity.

Even so, Christianity is a religion of a completely different order from all others. It is not an expression of a human search for God; it is the result of God's search for man.

According to the Apostle Paul, God wants "all men to be saved", and He also wants them to come "to a knowledge of truth". God sent His son, Jesus Christ, into the world to save man. Belief in Him leads to salvation.

Christianity is the voice of the one and only universal Lord who came into the world, and by specific events in history, died on the cross and was resurrected in order to reconcile all men to God. It is the only one capable of making that offer. And precisely there lies possibly the most offensive aspect of 20th century Christianity. Its exclusiveness.

Other religions can be very inclusive and accommodating. Hinduism is reputed to be the most inclusive of all. Buddhism prides itself on being tolerant of other religious systems. But Christianity is exclusive. It offers salvation in no other name than that of Jesus Christ.

Christianity does not offer something more and better that any other religion, for both the present and the future.

Salvation in Christ is unique and incomparable.
